2nd time around

When i first got to Australia , i thought i knew everything about sailing , but i was wrong , i new very little about it . So the first trip up North to the Whitt Sundays was very new for me. I did enjoy the scenery and the sea life  . But sailing and learning to live in such small quarters was not easy . When you come from a small city and have a large wardrobe of clothing and shoes to living with only a small closet that holds snap top lids of your clothing and everything you will wear has to fit in there. Just amagine a small plastic box what can fit in it , this includes shirts , shorts , and even underclothes . There is not enough room for clothes to hang in the closet , i do have a small space for hanging a few garments , but the problem with that is they tend to get damp from the sea breeze and salt. i have come from also a full size washing machine and dryer to washing out of 2 buckets in cold salt water , and hanging them on a line in the ship to hopefully dry before the sun goes down . Showers were another issue with me , i was so used to letting the warm water fall on me for about 20 mins and taking my time enjoying the moment. You cant do that on the ship . Fill it with warm water in the sink and take a sponge bath in less than a sink of water , im also including washing your hair . that is not possible in the boat everyday . I was used to washing mine everyday , not so on the boat you are lucky to wash it 1 once a week ! aghhhh . I got used to pulling it up in the pony tail and wearing a hat .    So we are headed AGAIN up north , this time i know what to expect when we sail  so it wont be as bad . I wish she would magically grow into a catamaran with a full frig and washing machine !

I did miss Hill inlet the pic above that was one beautiful place it was amazing and just for the time there i didnt think about the washing machine or the hairdryer lol
i think GOD put it there for people like me that have difficulty in adjusting to sailing and as a retreat from the confines of the boat ;)

Oh yes! The "luxury items" we so take for granted and miss SO very much when we dont have them at our disposol! Especially when we're used to using them as we wished, as often as we wished too!

The once a week hair, at best...look at it this way. In truth (or as recommeded), its advisible to wash our hair only what, 2-3 a month. Or every other week. It allows the oils to keep the hair healthy (but I'm with ya girl down under!). Like you said though, when you get to such a place as Hill Inlet you didn't have a thought of those missed "luxury items" so much.
With that being said, it makes is all worth it and...you also know what to expect this time around.

You know though, as to your bath time, wouldn't it be easier, I mean since you mearly have less than a small small sinkful of water and all...hehee)for Rob to lend a hand there!? (Just trying to suggest ways of making it easier on "The Gurl Down Under")

I wish you both a safe, fun and wonderous journey into the treasures of those found on your adventurous seas. May you catch a bountiful harvest of...of...whatever it is which you seek! Most of all, have a blessed journey!!!

Good to hear from you and thanks for keeping in touch! Please continue to update us landlocked people of Ohio.

We miss and love you!
